40 years in fashion, is a lifetime, but for Zambesi it has been a labour of love. Since its birth in 1979 the brand has continue to grow from strength to strength as one of New Zealands most sought after brands. Zambesi continues to be the pinnacle of fashion in New Zealand for their intellecutal designs.
This year at NZFW they showcased a retrospective show with their greatest hits from their immense archive. With family and friends of the brand walking the catwalk it was an emotional show that truly showcased what fashion is all about.
Zambesi Retrospective Showcase
Hair Direction: Michael Beel/ L'Oreal Professional
Makeup Direction: KieKie Stanners/ MAC
Vibe: Individuality and texture. The hair look for the show was all about showcasing each models individuality. It was a massive undertaking for Michael and the team as there was over 40 models for the show and each one had to be personalised. There were many inspirations to draw from as 40 years of runway and look book imagery was at Michael's fingertips. The focus on the hair was about embracing the natural hair texture of each model and enhancing it to be luxe and lived in with that classic Zambesi edge. The showcase was an emotional one as many friends and family of the Zambesi world walked the runway show from Stan Walker to renowed stylist Kylie Cooke.
