It has been a busy month here in the salon with numerous competitions and entries from all our staff.
Continuing on Derek's legacy of producing award winning imagery that pushes the boundaries of fashion and hair. This year at Industry Awards NZ saw our biggest contingent of award finalists ever. We couldn't have been more proud of the team and their photographic work for this competition.
While we were not all winner, we did win one of the categories and we couldn't be more proud of this up and coming young super star. Hlawn took out the 'Editorial Stylist of the Year - Next Generation with her image from our salon collection XY.
The image stood out for its not only fashion forward take on the classic pompadour, but also its arresting cover image quality that could be used for a magazine cover shot. Congratulations Hlawn on this being not only your first photographic competition but also your first win. We predict bright things in your future.
Hlawn is a supremely talented up and coming colourist and stylist and her passion is for beautiful big hair. Book in to see Hlawn today if you are after a true Hollywood blow-wave.
Our very own Wei Jiang took out the SENIOR STYLIST category in the Wellington Hairdressing Collective competition.
The brief was to create an image inspired by the recent collection from NZ Hairdresser of the year Dany Pato.
Wei's image took inspiration from the Geisha influences found in Dany's work. Its moody tones continue Wei's aesthetics.
Buoy took out a double win with the recent Industry NZ Instagram competition.
Apprentice Jason Parker won the Emerging Stylist category with his slicked finger waves image from our recent salon collection XY. Jason's image was picked for its highly editorial concept and its beautiful execution.
Andrew continued his winning streak with his entry in the Senior Stylist section. Andrew's on trend hair concept was chosen for again its fashion forward take on the natural hair trend.
